seemingly dreaming

when i open my eyes,
fluffy flamingoes fly
in formation
across the universe;
neon rhapsodies and
psychedelic symphonies
paint their notes upon the sky.
trapped in patterns which inebriate,
my mind attempts to annotate,
but fails to find order or origin in
the consuming chaos; instead,
giraffes gesticulate at
luminescent lions and
bright beetles spiral by.
in circles and squiggles,
curlicues and convolutions,
i spin and swirl my way to a solution:
if i cannot discover just how this
magical melodious menagerie came to be,
i can simply exist in the mystery.

Day 21’s NaPoWriMo prompt was all about dreamscapes and vivid imagery! I went off on a tangent that’s all bright colours and unrealistic animals 😉
